Prince Nikolaos And Ms Tatiana Blatnik Meet Press Following Engagement

On the occasion of their engagement, which was announced after the Christmas holidays last year, Prince Nikolaos of Greece and Denmark and his fiancée Tatiana Blatnik met with the Greek and international press at a rather informal gathering at The Yacht Club of Greece around noon today.

With them were Nikolaos parents, King Constantine and Queen Anne-Marie and they told, among other things, that the prince proposed to Tatiana during a boat trip around the Christmas holidays and that his parent’s response had been a happy “finally!” upon the news. The wedding will probably take place in Greece but no date has yet been finally determined yet, according to Swedish Damtidning however, they are leaning towards 24 August. Before the marriage, the couple will not only have the usual wedding arrangement tasks to deal with, Tatiana will also convert to the Greek-Orthodox faith and will soon be baptized in the Greek church. Marshalls, however, they have already chosen, they will be Nikolaos older brother Crown Prince Pavlos, Tatiana’s brother and one of the groom’s best friends.

Prince Nikolaos And Ms Tatiana Blatnik Meet Press Following Engagement

Tatiana’s background remains a very well-guarded secret. When news of her and Nikolaos’ engagement was released we knew very little about her, more than that she was the prince’s girlfriend, working at designer company Diane von Furstenberg and lives in London, but now more than a month later, not much has been added to that knowledge. European magazines have done their best to dig a little in her background, French Point de Vue, for example, reported that her father died under “mysterious circumstances” and Swedish Damtidning claimed that he committed suicide. It was also said that her parents were never married and the father already had children from previous relationships. None of these claims have confirmed but remain rumours, and no official biography or CV has been released about the future bride.

Her mother Marie-Blanche, who goes by the name Blanca in the international jet set circles, who was according to information born in Germany, is now married to a wealthy South American man whose surname she took, Attilio Brillembourg. We think we also know that Tatiana studied at JFK International School and Aiglon College in Switzerland and Georgetown University in the U.S. and that she met her prince through mutual friends in Gstaad in 2003. Nikolaos and Tatiana have been a couple for about seven years and she has already met members of most European royal families since she has been on Nikolaos’ arm at many major events. Already in 2004 when Crown Prince Frederik of Denmark, cousin of Nikolaos, married Mary in Copenhagen, Tatiana was on the guest list.
