Hosted by the County Governor of Skåne, the King and Prince Carl Philip today visited the biogas plant owned by Swedish E.ON, Danish Bigadan and Swedish noble estate owner Rudolf Tornérhjelm at the the latter’s large Wrams Gunnarstorp Estate in Bjuv. They spent a half day studying the plant hosted by representatives from E.ON, Bigadan and Rudolf Tornérhjelm, looking at the model that produces biogas from organic waste.

During the press meeting in the courtyard of the estate (Prince Carl Philip chose not to be available to the media), King Carl Gustaf said that he is considering the possibility of producing biogas on a smaller scale on his own agricultural estate Stenhammar in Södermanland County.
- The dream is to find a technique that enables biogas production in a smaller scale suitable for smaller estates. We have gathered a lot of impressions and it’s a little bit more difficult than I had imagined, the King told Helsingborgs Dagblad.

The King also said that the world has woken up a little bit late to the environmental issue, but that things are finally starting to move. Everyone taking their own responsibility and the big international summits are all steps in the right direction. The various techniques available to for example cars can be something which is not easy to decide on, the King said that not even he or the Royal Court have chosen one direction yet but are rather testing cars driven on for example gas and ethanol.

According to the royal calendar, His Majesty and the Prince also visited The Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences in Alnarp during the day.
