The Princess of Asturias attended an act at the Spanish Senate that concluded the celebration of the “World Day of Rare Diseases”, that took place last February 28. Together with the president of the Senate and the Minister of Health, the princess presided the prize-giving ceremony to those that distinguished themselves by their solidarity to the people that suffer from rare diseases.
During her speech, Doña Letizia asked for “visibility and voice”, for the people that suffer from rare diseases – there are about three million of them in Spain. The Princess has talked about all the difficulties faced by those people. She also requested the assistance of all and that all work together to ensure that none of these people feel “alone, isolated, uninformed”.
