Rainy meeting at Gråsten

It was a rainy day yesterday when the beautifully set Gråsten Palace, the summer residence of the Danish Royal Family located in the lush landscape of Southern Jutland, stood host to a wet meeting underneath umbrellas and raincoats…

It was Queen Margrethe, her sister Princess Benedikte and two grandchildren Count Richard and Countess Ingrid von Pfeil und Klein-Ellguth who stepped out to meet and greet with a cycling team on their way from Denmark to Paris by bikes. The team is cycling for charity, to raise money for The Children’s Cancer Fund, and made a stop at Gråsten where they were offered hot coffee and chatted with the royals after the first stretch. Of course one of the royal dachshunds was also around to follow the conversation, perhaps laughing to itself as it saw how funny the humans looked, dressed in all sorts of raincoats – especially Margrethe’s really vibrant flower-printed favourite. Princess Benedikte was presented with a monkey, the team mascot, which the cycling team hoped would please the many children of the Royal Family.
